Toronto, April 29, 2017 – Saks Fifth Avenue celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday in style with a party featuring Trevor Andrew (a.k.a. GucciGhost). The Nova Scotia-born, Brooklyn-based, ex-Olympic Canadian snowboarder is now a graffiti artist who went from making an impromptu Gucci ghost Halloween costume to Gucci collaboration overnight.
Fashion industry, media, fashionistas, and Saks VIPs came out to party and enjoy GucciGhost’s mixed-media installation comprised of 17 canvases, over 100 reimagined Saks Fifth Avenue bags, video installations, and an assortment of graffitied props. Andrew spent five days creating the event space and window displays that will stay on display until May 27th.
“I wanted to create a space that had a parallel vibe to that of my studio in Brooklyn where I spent the past year creating, merging art and fashion,” said Andrew. “It’s such an honour to share my experience in its raw form with the public.”
The VIP luncheon and cocktail event was hosted by Saks Regional VP, Stephane Ledoux and Marketing Director, Shayne Stephens. In attendance were Shantell Martin, Jozy Altidore, John Meneilly, Jagmeet Singh, Paolo Rolden, Tyrone Edwards, Chloe Wilde, Jake Mossop, Mikhael Kale and yours truly. Great party!
