New York, April 18, 2014 – Jewelry brand Sam H Snyder Design, and top model Andrej Pejic are pleased to announce the launch of their special collaboration Pejic X Snyder. This innovative and unique collection is currently available online at www.samhsnyder.com, with a portion of the proceeds going directly towards the Ali Forney Center for LGTBQ youth.
Sam H Snyder design is led by husband and wife pair, Sam Snyder and Polina Gurtovaya. The brand offers jewelry, soft accessories, and home goods, with plans to launch a furniture division in the near future. Everything is designed and produced in New York City.
The concept for the Pejic X Snyder collection was free, simple shapes that depart from the rigidity of line and ‘rules’ geometry, becoming more expressive without degrading to chaos and randomness. To be free is not to be without rules, but to use rules to define form. Non-rigid, but still with intention and order. Confident expression.
“I am very excited to be launching my jewellery line in collaboration with Sam. The pieces wonderfully capture postmodern elegance with a minimalist aesthetic. However, my greatest pleasure is having the line support the honesty and courage of our youth who need assistance in rebuilding their lives” – Andrej Pejic
It is a common misconception that computer aided design/3D printed jewelry is a primarily machine-led, impersonal, and sterile process. The portion of the process that involves 3D printing is only the beginning of a long, multi-step, imperfect process that hasn’t changed much since the Middle Ages. Each piece, from conception, to design, printing, molding, casting, polishing, packaging, and finishing is handled by between 10-20 people.
Pricing varies between a couple of hundred to several thousands of dollars depending on your choice of rhodium plating, sterling silver, platinum sterling, palladium, or 18K gold construction.
