Toronto, October 18, 2013 – World MasterCard Fashion Week kicks off next Monday, October 21st in downtown Toronto’s David Pecaut Square. To celebrate, title sponsor MasterCard is kicking off another season of exclusive deals with StylicityTM.
MasterCard cardholders, will receive special discounts on everything from fashion apparel and accessories, to meals and drinks at renowned restaurants and bars throughout the city between October 18th – November 3rd. Twelve Toronto-based bloggers will be tweeting all things Stylicity from Yorkville, Queen West, West Queen West, King West and online.
This is my fourth consecutive season with Stylicity and although I’ve been the resident King Street West ambassador for three straight seasons, I’m now covering West Queen West. While there’s no doubt that Toronto’s entertainment, theatre, and fashion district (King Street West) holds a key place in my heart – West Queen West is where I actually do reside. Known primarily for its art galleries, West Queen West hosts several arts festivals and events and I’ve had the opportunity to show at some of them. West Queen West is also home to my favourite park – Trinity Bellwoods. I frequent the courts for regular games of bad hipster tennis. On any given weekend you’ll see everything from people exercising and walking their dogs, to families on picnics. I’ve even seen people trying to practice walking tightrope between trees.
West Queen West has been dubbed by many as Toronto’s coolest neighbourhood and I can see why. The shopping, the restaurants, and the bars compliment the galleries and massive green park. The neighbourhood is home to numerous stylish fashion boutiques such as Stylicity partners Gian-Paolo Mazzotta, Ben Sherman, Original Penguin, Leigh & Harlow, Simon Carter London, Spectacle, and many more.
The crown jewel of West Queen West for me has to be Ossington Avenue. I’ve had my tires changed next to the place I drink my tequila, which is down from my local hardware. Talk about diverse. The street runs north/south and from Queen Street West to Dundas Street West you’ll find it’s packed with great restaurants such as Stylicity partners Fish Bar and Reposado. I can remember Drew Barrymore blowing off a Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) party a few years ago to hit one of Ossington’s bars. Many celebrities including Collin Farrell and Jessica Biel have also been spotted dining on Ossignton when in town for movie shoots.
