Toronto, December 24, 2012 – It’s not every day that we get an invite from Vogue Italia to shoot behind-the-scenes for their latest editorial. Then again, it’s not every day that Vogue Italia comes to Canada. This country is home to some of the world’s most alluring models. Our rich diverse culture has created beautiful muses that strut the international runways and enliven the pages of all the top fashion magazines. So maybe it’s not that surprising that Vogue has come calling.
Vogue Italia was in Toronto last Friday for a photo and video shoot featuring three of Canada’s top models of colour. Jacqueline (Sutherland), Zoe (NEXT) and Celia (Metropolitan Paris) all took part in a special production to compliment the spectacular Vogue Italia Black Issue which comes out late next month. Behind the lens, the newest member of the Annie Leibowitz photography team – Canadian, Patricia Recourt and an all-star cast of Canada’s top fashion experts including Celebrity Makeup Artist – Paul Venoit, top Hair Technician – Adrian Carew and Stylist – Alisa Krost.
The entire Toronto production was made possible by the award-winning Milan-based producer, Celia Sears (MKS/SLAM) who directed the shoot. ”As a Canadian living in Milan, I always try to find ways to shine the light on this country. Speaking with my editor at Vogue Italia, where I must admit, I shamelessly extolled the virtues of shooting in Toronto, they became excited about the possibilities,” said Sears when asked about how this shoot came to fruition.
