Toronto, October 17, 2012 – The two-day fashion event known simply as The ShOws, welcomes four Canadian big designers every season that have been making waves on the world stage. Tanya Taylor and her Memories of Barbados inspired Spring/Summer 2013 Collection was first to show last night. Showing in a busy second floor of the Andrew Richard Designs space, this was only the designer’s second collection shown at NYFW. She’s made quite an impact on the New York fashion scene in a short time packing the house at the Museum of Modern Art in early Septemeber. It was the first time the museum had hosted a fashion show and she impressed the critics. Last night was no different.
Taylor is getting married in Barbados this coming April and she’s found inspiration for SS13 in the country’s famed and historic Sandy Lane hotel. The highlight of this flirty collection was the contemporary hand-drawn 1960s florals prints shown on various dresses, skirts, silk cropped pants with matching bra tops and one wild varsity jacket. It’s a small collection but strong collection that works just as well on a night out in the big city as it would on vacation.
