Toronto, September 28, 2012 – We’re big fans of SHARP Magazine and their semiannual Book for Men published in seasonal editions. It’s been incredible to see the speed at which the publication has grown over the past two years. From the editorial content, to the menswear style icons that their very own staff have morphed into (even La Fave is wearing patterned suits), these Canadians are doing us proud.
The Sharp: The Book For Men Fall/Winter 2012 Launch Party promised to be the ultimate men’s event of the year last night and they delivered. After all, Sharp Magazine’s Book for Men is all about the ultimate right? “Whether the ultimate wristwatch, sports car or pair of shoes, each item in the Book for Men is chosen because it represents an incredible achievement in design, technology and craftsmanship,” says their Editor-in-Chief, Jeremy Freed. Held at downtown Toronto’s recently opened luxurious Shangri-La Hotel, the launch party featured abundant gourmet food, top-shelf Glenlivet scotch, fine Mombacho cigars, the latest in menswear from GotStyle and a new BMW 7 Series parked on the terrace for everyone to check out. Did we mention the parade of knock out men and women? They forgot to note that in the invite.
As with every issue, the Book for Men is full of men’s high fashion and luxurious lifestyle product reviews. You have to read Of Ice and Men, which is a great story featured in the book about two men in a death-defying race through the Alps in vintage Porsches. The James Bond Style Icon piece is also a great retrospective featuring my favourite Bond girl – Claudine Auger. Some great photography in there including The Hunt by Sean Cook, Statement Scents featuring Canada’s very own Zombie Boy, Rick Genest. The While You Were Out spread shot by Adam Levett is nice – you can’t really go wrong shooting beautiful women in erotic poses wearing men’s clothes. The key is not to feature anyone waxing them. Finally, there’s the MANual, 30 pages of manly advice on how to do everything better or at least more manlier. A great read and great reference book for the season. The Book for Men is available at newsstands everywhere for $16.95.
