Milan, September 24, 2012 – While Dolce & Gabbana had us thinking of Carmen Miranda and Frida Kahlo, Gianfranco Ferré Spring/Summer 2013 reminded us of young Sharon Stone (flashback to that Basic Instinct (1992) interrogation scene). Stefano Citron and Federico Piaggi described the black and white collection as an homage to the house, reinterpreted for today. The femme fatale is without a doubt something that has been done to death by the fashion world, but the sleekness, sexiness, and contemporary feel to GF SS13 is very sophisticated and timeless. It wasn’t all black and white – there were coloured pieces that pay tribute to a photographer that had worked with the house on advertising campaigns in the past. However, it’s the bold monochromatic apparel and accessories that will be remembered.
