Milan, September 23, 2012 – It was no surprise to see a Sicilian-inspired Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2013 women’s ready-to-wear collection. It was after all, the perfect compliment to the men’s SS13 collection. Kitschy, souvenir shop chic looks pulled from the local prints, fabrics and even baskets of the eastern Sicilian town of Taormina made from some very out-there 1950s looks. We doubt many women will be itching to buy raffia potato sacks but many of the ornate pieces and beautiful prints make for great Anna Dello Russo style statement pieces. The handbags, funky puppet earrings, and shoes were amazing. A level of creative brilliance and a in-your-face boldness to create whatever you damn well feel like is something few fashion houses can get away with. Dolce & Gabbana is one of them.
