Milan, September 19, 2012 – Gucci Spring/Summer 2013 isn’t your typical Gucci. Frida Giannini has lifted that veil of darkness we see in every ready-to-wear collection. She’s been sticking to a late 1960’s to early 1970’s aesthetic for some time now, but this time she’s channeled the aristocratic women shot through the lens of photographers Richard Avedon and Gian Paolo Barbieri. It’s not that there’s a ton of colour for SS13. It’s that its loud and in your face – even when it’s white.
Giannini limited her palette to the few and the proud: fuchsia and coral, cobalt, turquoise, jade and yellow chartreuse. Sea anemone prints flirt with one of SS13 biggest trend and Cavaliesque snakeskin prints are a surprise. Love the looks from head-to-toe, particularly those incredible accessories. Sunglasses, clutches, and wow…those shoes.
