New York, September 15, 2012 – He’s one stylish Swede that Niklas Ankar. Known for ignoring trends and dressing the same way his entire life, he translates his personal aesthetic into his casually sophisticated menswear label. ANKAR SWEDEN Spring/Summer 2013 takes inspiration from 1950s & 1960s classic Hollywood resort life. Havana resorts, elegant artists of San Tropez, Vespa-driving Italians on Capri and smiling pool boys of the West Indies all lend lend influence to the cuts and prints of what is the label’s third collection.
The Spectrum of Light collection uses bright solid colours and Indian prints. It’s an intense with mix of bold fuchsias, pinks, mint greens and yellows found in solid pieces as well as elaborate paisley and madras prints. Ankar never cuts corners with fabrics and SS13 is no exception. He uses high quality linen, pima cotton, Italian and Irish fabrics in his pieces. Nehru jackets are back for SS13, but does any non-Indian in North America other than Steven Seagal where these? Highlights of the collection have to be the four-pocket jackets, shorts/swimwear, check sports jackets, and colourful slim fit trousers.
