MOON Apparel Goes Solo in Canada Banks on U.S. Expansion

MoonApparel.caToronto, August 30, 2012 – Now into its fifth season, the Canadian fashion label named simply after its source of inspiration, has announced it is no longer selling its apparel and accessories at The Bay. We’re also sad to hear that they’ve put the kibosh on the menswear line. Some might call it an evolution, others a speed bump, as the MOON fashion label launches a made-for-her interactive online only shopping destination –

The virtual boutique is set to launch on September 15, 2012 and will showcase collections with its fashion-savvy clientele in mind. The concept is to provide Canadian women direct access to clothing they love with prices they trust. The online store will offer free shipping and returns with no hidden charges or fees. For fast and reliable service, orders will shipped from a fulfillment house in Toronto and will arrive within days, depending on the location across Canada.

MoonApparel.caMOON has become a favourite of ours namely because of its redefined classics and key seasonal fashion pieces in perfect fits with distinct quality at affordable prices. Created by the designing Mimran family and Canadian design icon Alfred Sung (Club Monaco fame), MOON has a clean, minimal aesthetic that appeals to the young creative professional woman.

“Our customer is the modern, professional woman who seeks elevated runway-inspired style, convenience and accessibility,” says Saul Mimran, President of Mimran Group Inc. “MOON is stepping into the future with the Canadian ecommerce site and we have plans to continuously delight her here and internationally with exciting collections and collaborations.”

In addition to the Canadian e-commerce launch, the Mimran Group’s growth strategy for MOON includes a recent expansion into the U.S. market at retail giant Bloomingdale’s and over 100 select U.S. specialty retailers. Nice!

MoonApparel.caFor Fall/Winter 2012, MOON captures elements of beauty and sophistication as reflected in its modern-day classic silhouettes, warm seasonal jewel tones, colour blocking fashion and textured knits. The colour palette pops with magenta, cherry, turquoise and tangerine hues set against a backdrop of neutral tones such as black, cream, navy, mushroom and caramel. This a wonderfully edited collection that hits on many of the women’s It’s All Style To Me FW12 Trends.

Look for the label’s Holiday 2012 Collection which seeks influence from the 1920s and 30s. Key design details include dropped-waist silhouettes, large collars, layered sheer fabrics and lady-like accents. Rich prints and sequin plackets punctuate a delicate and feminine palette of orchid pink, magenta and purple. Featuring a total of 19 pieces, the collection places an emphasis on pretty blouses, sleeveless dresses, double crepe peplum jacket, houndstooth pencil skirt and Brocade cigarette pant. Lookbook images available in the gallery below. If you want some advice, make a beeline for the brocade pieces. They’ll sell out fast.

Customers can also look forward to ongoing accessory collaborations on the website including handbags, jewellery and scarves from established and emerging designers. As well, they will be privy to insider styling tips and trend information from guest editors, forums with sister and brother design duo behind MOON, Tamara and Jordin Mimran, and special events.

If you’re going to be in Toronto September 14-16, check out the MOON Pop-Up Shop at 171 East Liberty Street, Suite 360. You’ll be able to celebrate the launch of the MOON online store with designers Jordin and Tamara Mimran and see the FW12 & Holiday Collection in person.
