Toronto, August 24, 2012 – It’s no secret that Greta Constantine is one of, if not our favourite Canadian womenswear designers. Clearly, we’re not alone on this. Their semi-annual Rogue Fashion Week shows are quite seriously, a thing of legend. A-listers, celebrities, fashionistas, and socialites clamour for seats to their shows and the coveted after-parties.
Last night, Greta designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong invited select guests to a private mansion in the Annex that belongs to longtime Greta supporters, Krystal Koo and Michael Cooper. Midsummer Affair guests included Glen Baxter, Ben Mulroney, Ainsley Kerr, Melissa Grelo, Dwight Drummond, Elmer Olsen, Tony Pham, and many others. It was a chance to not only enjoy great appetizers and Stolichnaya cocktails in an intimate setting with the designers – the boys had a little surprise.
“When our team had commenced planning the event, we were brainstorming how to best introduce the direction of the new collection. In a eureka moment, Kirk and Stephen came up with the idea of incorporating synchronized swimmers. The synchronized swimmers were a natural fit with the Greta Constantine brand because of the grace they possess, the beauty they embody, and strength that defines their art,” explained Jesse Greene, Manager of Communications and Logistics for Greta.
Yes, the boys created custom made Greta Constantine bathing suits. Something to keep in mind for Team Canada Rio 2016? There was a tall, beautiful, nymph-like model staged around the pool. She wore an asymmetrical, draped white jersey gown from the Greta Constantine Spring 2013 Collection wetting our appetite for mid-October. Can’t wait!
