Toronto, July 10, 2012 – Dîner en Blanc marks the world’s first viral event, a très chic picnic imported from Paris and now taking hold in outdoor public spaces in twenty cities across 5 continents in 2012. Taking the pop-up concept to a refined and mysterious level, these romantic outdoor Epicurean Feasts are organized entirely via social media, attended annually by as many as 10,000 people in cities around the world. For Toronto‘s first official Dîner en Blanc, the guest list will be limited to 1,400 people for the as-yet-to-be-disclosed location.
Part mystery, part magic, part flash feast, part je ne sais quoi, the day of the event unfolds the same in every city: the site is revealed at the last-minute to preserve spontaneity and secrecy. Guests are directed to meet in groups of between 20-40 at rallying points where organizers will escort them by foot or bus to the nearby location. All are asked to dress in elegant white from head to toe, bring their own epicurean feasts, tables, chairs, glasses, silver and white napery. The mass of secret picnickers will come together for a “chic picnic” in a public space complete with sparklers-ceremony and festive white balloons, dine amid live music and end the evening dancing. When it is time to leave, guests will pack their crystal, dinnerware and tables, gather all their debris and head into the night, no sign of their elegant revelry left behind.
Registration will be open to the public from July 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. until July 24, 2012 at 12 p.m. To sign-up visit http://toronto.dinerenblanc.
An option to pre-order food, which can be collected at the site, will be available for those who do not wish to pack their own picnic baskets. Please be aware that pre-ordered food must be reserved through Dîner en Blanc during your initial ticket registration. Registration will be open from July 19, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. until July 24, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.
