Jet Set Meets Resort: Gucci Men’s Spring/Summer 2013

Milan, June 25, 2012 – Is there such thing as a perfect collection? That depends on your definition. Ideally, it should be complete with looks that take you from day to night and a little something for long weekend getaways included. Well tailored, diverse and a healthy dose of complimentary footwear and accessories would also do the trick. Frida Giannini’s Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection is about as close as one gets to menswear perfection for SS13.

Inspired by a vintage baiadera-striped Gucci bag made in a unique colour combination, the dynamic SS13 collection is an essay on colour. Dedicated to the jet set lifestyle that so many of us live (yeah right), the pieces are a throwback to a classical era in menswear with a touch of resort, made for men who, “Feel comfortable in the spotlight, but don’t necessarily seek it out.”

Shapes are rooted in slim silhouettes with plenty of double-breasted suiting. Giannini explains how even the non-tailored pieces such as the cardigans and polos still have a sartorial quality to them. Not a single piece is a miss. Must haves? Look for more Gucci horsebit loafers, this time in an array of colours and patterns as well as covet-worthy men’s bags and foulard style shirts for SS13. Arguably the best show of Milan Fashion Week Menswear.
