Milan, June 23, 2012 – Never ones to shy away from their Italian heritage, Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection dives head first into 1950′s Sicily. Now, earlier this year Vogue announced they would not be publishing any photos of underage models. That’s going to be a problem considering that quite a few of the 70 young Sicilians chosen to model SS13 were in fact underage boys.
What a beautiful spectacle this show was. A traditional band played live as young men hand picked from small Sicilian towns and villages paraded down the runway in vibrant Italian Renaissance print dress shirts and paper bag cinched trousers and shorts. Thick stripes are a carry over from some of the SS12 collections with old school leather sandals finishing off the looks. Overall, it’s clearly going to be a tad too cultural for some. However many of the printed pieces work well as statement pieces.




















Looks like they got very deep into the Sicilian subject, but instead of doing a Sicilian mafia business they started a deal with a godfather of Russian mafia, Semion Mogilevich. Few weeks ago Dolce and Gabbana opened a store in Kiev, Ukraine in Mandarin Plaza, a shopping center owned by Semion Mogilevich. However crime and fashion don’t do well together…
