Toronto, June 17, 2012 – Just in time for the launch of the Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9981, Porsche Design opened their first Canadian store in Toronto this past week. In its rich 40-year history Porsche Design has introduced some of the world’s most iconic luxury fashion statements, including the classic aviator sunglasses with innovative interchangeable lens-mechanism (1978) and the world’s first black watch (1972), both available exclusively at the 1,600 square-foot store located at 77 Bloor Street West.
Porsche Design products include collections in categories such as men’s and women’s fashion apparel, luggage, men’s activewear, writing tools, fragrances, smoking accessories, leather goods, jewelry, timepieces, eyewear and home accessories. “We are very excited to bring Porsche Design to Canada,” said Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group who was in town for the launch. “Most of these products have not been seen here before. We believe consumers of luxury fashion are going to be very excited with the elegance and range of our products.”
As Dr. Gessler explained in an interview with It’s All Style To Me, while founder Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche had his roots in the classic automotive company that bears his name, the design company is a completely separate entity with a unique brand and product offering. “At Porsche Design we believe to be cool is very easy for a brand, but to continue to stay cool in the future is the challenge. This means that you cannot follow trends but instead get the most out of what is working for a particular trend, while staying true to your history and heritage,” explained Dr. Gessler. “It is important to be young in mind and interested in new ideas.”
