London, June 17, 2012 – We met with Oliver Spencer in late 2011 (interview here), where he discussed his SS12 collection and then upcoming launch of the new boutique in Soho. An off-camera chat shed some light on the quirky characters he incorporates into his fashion shows. It would be Gordon Richardson that would surprise the London crowd with a guest runway appearance at the Spring/Summer 2013 show hinting at who knows, another possible Oliver Spencer / Topman collaboration?
The self-taught British tailor and very hands-on fashion designer is a menswear favourite of ours and we always look forward to what he has in store for us each season. For SS13 Oliver has found inspiration in Russian Modernism the likes of Kandinsky and Britain’s own Ben Nicholson.
The man has a way of taking that exquisite British tailoring and breaking it down into something more relaxed and youthful. Cream, deep red, electric and navy blue work their way into most ensembles with the odd jade-coloured green and canary yellow thrown in. If you blink, you might miss the really cool Oliver Spencer footwear, which is always a favourite of ours. How wild is that purple patterned sports jacket? Hope he makes one in a size 46.
