Toronto, May 15, 2012 – We just took a look at both the HUDSON denim and the Schutz footwear Fall/Winter 2012 collections today. Channeling in on the visual energy of street art, HUDSON experiments with acid neon colour, explosive prints and DIY detailing and finishes. They are calling their latest collection timeless and unforgettable. They definitely pulled out all the stops.
Metallics are a huge trend for FW12. The folks at HUDSON apply a special hand-sprayed finish to their denim that resulting in a metallic look that does not compromise on comfort. Many of the new FW12 styles are based on the SS12 Nico jeans, so look for new cropped, relaxed and wide-legged versions of this season’s hit. Another great release from HUDSON are their coloured corduroy trousers. They come in drawstring and slim wide leg as well. Keep an eye out for the psychedelic printed cords in blue or pink galaxy or space invader versions. While on the subject of printed denim HUDSON has traded their SS12 snakeskin prints for FW12 lace prints. Interesting, but we’re most excited about their Art Deco printed denim (first and second photo below).
It’s been about a year and a half since we first talked about waxed denim. They’ve since become somewhat mainstream and going strong into FW12. HUDSON’s Tencel stretch cotton jeans are dyed and then spray-coated by hand to ensure an even waxed finish. You end up with the glamorous look of leather, but with the comfort of denim. They’ve gone wax crazy treating everything from jeans to skirts and jackets. Finally look for velveteen Nico jeans in Bordeaux, black, bone and plum as well as tuxedo inspired LOULOUs.
Fear not gentlemen for you are not left out in the cold. HUDSON has corduroy and waxed denim for you as well. The HUDSON’s menswear collection blends British cool with Californian casual. Guys, try and get your hands on the limited edition distressed vintage collection called the HUDSON Heritage Collection. Looks like a lot of work went into these pieces. We’re crazy about the Heritage Outlaw denim jacket in particular.
