Giorgio Armani surprised the Paris crowd with one of the strongest Spring/Summer 2012 Couture shows of the week. Uncharacteristically Armani, the septuagenerian opted for a selection of metamorphosis inspired colour, texture, and geometry for the latest Privé collection.
Exotic crocodile skins and snake prints were fashioned into Todd Lynn-ish peplum jackets in a range of vibrant cool colours that included iridescent greens and faded turquoise and blue. Intense tropical snake skin prints looked just as stunning in skirts as they did on the strapless gowns. The silky sheen of a butterfly’s cocoon was reproduced on trousers and gowns with the asymmetric architectural folds and tucks giving the skirts that funky edge. Blink and you miss the same details in the accessories and footwear.
