Last Tuesday, Torstar Digital, a division of the Toronto Star Newspaper Ltd. launched a free local location-based iPhone/iPad application called ShopCatch. Already featured as one of the top shopping apps in Canada by iTunes Canada, ShopCatch is designed to help Torontonians shop better by spending less. How does it work? Download the ShopCatch app here, then click to find promotions, sales, and exclusive offerings from top retailers and malls near you.
“ShopCatch is poised to change the way Canadians find the best deals on hundreds of retail products and services,” said Candice Faktor, Vice President of Strategy and New Ventures at Torstar Digital. “We’re excited to offer a product that will bring the shopping experience to the next level, combining convenience and mobility with quality offers that are in real time, completely portable and don’t require clipping coupons.”
In today’s PDA obsessed world it makes complete sense. If we can replace physical CDs, DVDs, and books with electronic versions – then why not do the same with coupons? ShopCatch is currently limited to the Greater Toronto Area but there are plans to expanding nationwide. Features include advanced keyword and category searches, as well as interactive mall maps and store directories to help make the everyday shopping experience easier. Users can share any of the deals they see on ShopCatch with family and friends and can also “follow” their favourite retailers so they will always know about the latest offers.
ShopCatch held a media party last night at the Neubaucher Shor Contemporary Gallery. Decked out in bright Joe Fresh Style Orange, the ShopCatch girls did their rounds demonstrating the app to anyone too sceptical to have already downloaded it to their iPhone. A great idea, they also had mannequins set up throughout the gallery showing you what you could have saved on select ensembles had you used the ShopCatch mCoupons. ShopCatch Mobile Boutiques are being setup throughout the city and feature fun giveaways and photo opportunities. For dates and locations please visit the ShopCatch website or their Facebook Page.
